COMMUNITY FOUNDATION GOES ONLINE TO GREEN WNY AND ANNOUNCES ENVIRONMENTAL VIDEO CONTEST WITH $15,000 IN GRANT PRIZES August 11, 2010, Buffalo, NY— The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo has launched a new campaign to achieve social change around the environment by engaging social networks and creating a new interactive online resource. Through a cutting edge new website, GrowWNY.org, the Foundation will help Western New Yorkers live a greener, healthier and more sustainable lifestyle and provide a new way for environmental organizations to communicate with the general public.

Unprecedented partnership designed to prepare children for success in school NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. (Aug. 12, 2010) – Niagara University, along with the United Way of Greater Niagara, the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, the Niagara Area Foundation (NAF) and local business leaders have partnered to launch the Quality Improvement Project (QIP) of Niagara. This initiative is designed to improve the early childhood opportunities of children in Niagara County and to enhance the kindergarten readiness skills of young children.

CFGB's WNYEA Launches Regional Agenda July 16, 2009, Buffalo, NY—A group of 150 organizations in Western New York announced an initiative to restore and preserve the region’s natural environment. Convened by the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, the Western New York Environmental Alliance’s (WNYEA) Shared Agenda for Action on the Environment will increase the impact of local environmental work by uniting diverse organizations around specific priority areas.

Wyoming Foundation 2009 Grants top $14,000 The Wyoming Foundation, a division of the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, awarded at total of $14,820 to 14 not-for-profit organizations during its 2009 granting cycle.

2009 CFGB Grants Total Over $600,000 The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo awarded a total of $600,525 to
24 not-for-profit organizations through its 2009 competitive grant cycle. Grant amounts range from $4,500 to $50,000, and support initiatives aimed to meet the most critical needs in Western New York.

Innovative Fund Supports Grantwriting for Collaboration between Environmental Organizations Environmental organizations working together on specific projects in
Western New York are now eligible for a new pool of funding from the Community Foundation for Greater
Buffalo (CFGB). The new fund will award grants to environmental collaboratives to pay for the hiring of expert grantwriters
who can help them attract funding from sources outside the WNY region.

8 WNY Foundations Partner to Fund Local Arts Organizations The Fund for the Arts (FFA), a unique funding collaborative made up of eight
Western New York foundations, has announced a pilot funding initiative to support mid-sized cultural organizations in the region. Ten organizations, including three collaborative efforts with an additional seven partners, were selected to participate in the pilot during the next 12 months; they represent Erie and Niagara counties and encompass a range of arts programming.
In announcing the pilot program and 10 organizations selected, the FFA also announced that it has received a $124,000 grant from a national funder, the Kresge Foundation, to support its work.

2010 Grants Process Kicks Off The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo (CFGB) is now accepting Letters of Intent for 2010 grants through its website. Letters of Intent are due March 1, 2010. This will be the only granting cycle for 2010.

Foundation Announces 650 Kids Tested, 100 Homes Made Lead Safe June 14, 2010, Buffalo, NY – The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo announced that its lead poisoning prevention campaign tested more than 650 children for lead and made over 100 homes lead safe in its first year. Buffalo is home to six of the highest risk zip codes for lead poisoning and research shows that it causes permanent and irreversible damage to the brain and central nervous system seriously undermining a child’s ability to learn and may lead to violent behavior later in life.

CFGB Joins in Establishing Flight 3407 Fund February 20, 2009 – The United Way of Buffalo & Erie County, the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, Bank of Akron, Bank of America, Citi, Citizens Bank, Evans Bank, First Niagara Bank, Five Star Bank, HSBC Bank USA, N.A., KeyBank, M&T Bank, and Northwest Savings Bank today established a fund to assist those affected by the February 12 crash of Continental Flight 3407 in Clarence.
