Environment

Goal: Steward significant environmental resources in the context of climate resilience

Our region has a wealth of natural assets, including the rich ecosystems shaped by our proximity to two Great Lakes, and a system of inspiring public green spaces. Approximately 20 percent of the world’s fresh water flows through our region. Water is a valuable and important resource to creating a healthy and vibrant community. We must ensure that is it not only clean but that all residents are able to access, and enjoy, our waterways.

The Community Foundation recognizes how critical it is to protect and enhance our environment and has taken a leadership role in bringing together organizations committed to safeguarding and creating access to these natural resources.
